Be Safe this Steelhead SEASON!!!!!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

You called in Sick because you have been hearing about everyone catching allot of fish in the Grand River. You pick your buddy up in the morning and launch at 6 st. on the east side boat launch. And you are so dam excited you are about ready to just lay the Smack Down on um!!!!! You get there super early to get the first spot up by the dam and you pull really close to the dam to try to get your anchor to hold. And you have dam near 100 pounds on the end of your anchor rope just to get you to stay put. You finally get settled in and you shut your motor down. And it’s 6 in the morning, still dark out. You throw in a few times and you hear a Big SPLASH!!!!!!!!!!!! A HUGE TREE JUST CAME OVER THE DAM AND IT’S COMING RIGHT AT YOU AND BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN REAL YOUR LINE IN THAT TREE IS CAUGHT ON YOUR ANCHOR ROPE AND ITS TAKING THE FRONT OF YOUR BOAT UNDER WATER!!!!!! WHAT DO YOU DO???!!!??? CUT YOUR ANCHOR ROPE!!!!!!!! ARE YOU READY????? ARE YOU READY TO REACT IN 3 SEC???? BECAUSE IN 1 SEC A TREE CAN COME OVER THAT DAM AND SWALLOW YOU AND YOUR BOAT!!!!!

Do you have a knife ready?? Is your knife ready to get grabbed and cut your anchor rope to save you and your buddys lives? And do you have a spare rope with a spare anchor to hold you incase your motor didnt start  so you dont go over the coffer dam and flip your Boat? Do you have a pair of oars in your boat so if your spare anchor doesnt grab hold, you are able to ROW down the west side shoot of the coffer dams?

I have known a few guys that where fishing the grand and they where 150 yards away from the dam. Tree came over the dam and came there way. people where yelling at um to get out of the way and they took there time and before they got there anchor rope up the tree was already sliding there boat back. Then the anchor caught and the tree took the front of there boat down and flipped there boat. that force of the river WILL  KILL YOU point blank!!! Something to think about next time your on the “GRAND” River.

BE SAFE THIS STEELHEAD SEASON!!! Few Tips to go by. If you Look at the Flow Chart at 5.5 you can go over the Coffer Dams with your Motor 8 inches Below your Boat. There are New snags this year!!!! Few Re Rods have came down river and if you don’t Know where they are your going to Lay your Boat OPEN. I have seen Re Rod Cut a 4 foot long slash in a boat because the Guy never knew where the Hell he is Going. If your Coming up from Johnson Park Most all the Guys start on the east side comin up past the Island they Go to the west side and stay Between the 1st and 2 nd Pillar all the Way up the River until you get to the dam. If you have a Jet. you can make it up at 4.1 on the chart. This is just some advice to keep in mind. For this Spring Steelhead season Comin up.

Cravin the Chrome Makes us all want to go catch some Fish!!!! Stay in line with the 2 Center Pillars if your Fishing the center Run. If you need any tips feel free to ask me on FACEBOOK.

Feb. 17th Fishing Heating up

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Went down to the River Feb.14. And Fished the Dam. Never got a Bite the Wind was Blowing and it was just nasty out. So i waited on a few buddies to come up from Battle Creek and we went down River and Started to Hit the Fish.

With the Low water we have had all winter long the Fish are Holed up. You find you a good Hole and there is going to be a few fish in it. We fished spawn and jigs for awhile never never hit anything. But then I threw on a spinner and BAM. There he was son. Got a Brown on the Line and the fight was on. After that i threw a few more cast and hit another BROWN. All in ALL I hit 3 Browns all on Spinners. And then Landed a Steelhead and then Lost another Steelhead at the Boat. The Grand River is Big and there is allot of water to Fish. Find the Log Jams,Eddy’s and the Holes and you’ll Find Some Fish.
