Good time to get your fishing gear ready. When the water raises up those fish get there tail up river. When its on the rise the steelhead are on the move. And then after it Peeks, about three days after the water peeks there will be steelhead every where.

Float Fish with Jigs and Spawn. And don’t forget to bounce the bottom for steelhead either. If your throwing spawn. One of my go secret’s for HIGH WATER. Is to put about a one inch piece of yarn on for steelhead. And then If I have skein I cure. I save the JUICE and put it in a Bottle and squirt. That Steelhead juice on the yarn with my choker bag.

Walleye are in the river right now to. The Big Hens will be here really soon!!! This next month will be the BEST time of the year for you to hit a trophy WALLEYE!!!! Use Buck tail jigs and Body Baits. Throw small body baits up and down the grand river for walleye and you will be amazed!!!

We had low water all winter long and then we get allot of water all at once and then the Big push goes threw and doesnt stop like they have in the past. Good time to get your tricks of the trade out and go pound them before there main run is all over with. But did you know you can catch a steely in the Grand River year round? This last year when I knew allot of people off work. They FISHED and FISHED HARD!!! And they caught fish all year long. Try to throw some wobble glows, or just run beads and dead drift um.

If your running Wobble Glows or Bouncing the Bottom. You are going to have the Big Suck Suck on your Line in between those silver bullets you hook!!!! We where running Huge Floats with a 2 once egg sinker under um. Just to keep it down in the top of the runs. White Choker Bags seemed to be the ticket today. The water is getting nice!!!! It’s a perfect time right now to Crave the Chrome Baby. If your going down there and not getting a hit right now. You need to think about 2 THINGS!!! LINE CONTROL AND SPEED CONTROL!!!!?!!!!! is your line slagging in the water because your trying to cast to long? If your float fishing and trying to cast to far and your line is all in the water look at your float and see which way its standing up. Good chance the your float is pointing down river and when that happens there going to be seeing your sinkers before your sac. Keep your line nice and tight with a little back pressure on your float. So they will be seeing your bag first and not getting hit in the head with lead. Or do you have to much lead on or not enough. Keep some of those tips in mined when you go out next. And ya know I have been seeing more people loose fish because they never change there leaders!!! This is the grand River home of rerod and tons of rocks. If you fishing right…. your line is going to get banged up…. feel it check it!!! And when u do get a nice fish on… your not going to break him off!!!! We went 5 for 15 today in a couple of hours. Or should I say we went 5 STEELYS/18 SUCKERS 15 Steelys hooked and lost and 45 Suckers hooked and Lost.   YOUR NOT GOING TO CATCH NO DAM FISH WITH OUT YOUR LINE IN THE WATER!!!!! GO FISHING!!!!!!!!

Allot of Guys are using Wobs right now. Orange and Pink has been good. Running with about a 2 to 3 foot leader and just drifting the holes and runs with it. Guys throwing spawn having been putting about a 1 inch piece of yarn snelled to there hook and then soaking it with some kind of sent. Try ShagNasty Love Juice? Come in the Shop its our blend of Goodness!!! If your Tying bags you want to make sure you are tying bigger bags right now. Quater to 50 cent pieces have been doin good. We have some new High Water Floats here in the store. They can hold about 2 ounces of lead. So in this high water it helps keeping everything down where the fish are.

Went to The Oak and then fished Burt Dam. Caught allot of fish!! The Oak was just insane!!!! If you have fished the dam at 6 st. And think that was shoulder to shoulder you have no clue. Try fishing a river a little bigger than the rogue but people on both sides of the river. There was allot of fly fisherman there. Most trying to swing egg patterns with about 15 split shots on it. I will give the GRAND RIVER and the People that fish it day to day HIGH MARKS right now!!!! If you know how to fish the Grand River, you can go anywhere around the Great Lakes and out fish any BODY!!! And I’m not just saying that to be saying it. The Runs we have here in the grand are tuff to fish. And when you know how to fish those runs. Slow and slack watewater doesnt phase you a bit. In the Grand it’s all about reading the water. Hitting the seams. SPEED CONTROL AND DEPTH CONTROL. If you don’t have those to things while you fishing you are wasting your time. Anyone can fish. BUT NOT EVERYONE CAN FISH AND CATCH FISH!!!!!!!!!

The Trip took us around 12 hours becasue my buddy had a DUI that wanted to go with me. It should have only took us around 5 to 6 hours cutting across Canada. But we caught the FISH!!!! Caught allot of nice big and meaty Salmon and then when we went to Burt dam. the Browns where every where!!! I did catch my first Atlantic Salmon though. That had to be one of the hardest faught fish I have ever caught in my life.

But it’s starting to slow down now. there are some cromers still in the river but we are getting allot of spawned out fish. The river has been staying cold though. It was 48 degrees yesterday below the dam.

Temp is about 45 degrees right now. But up close to the dam we have been hitting fishing on choker bags and then mixing um up with some smaller bags as well. Fishing are still going strong on wobble glows. And the shore anglers are hitting um with yarn and about 8 foot leaders. I went out yesterday and hit about 40 fish. Landed 12. I’ve been using 12 to 14 lb main line and 10 pound leader. and using a huge float with a 1 ounce sinker to get it in the hole quick. there’s been allot of light biters. Float isnt going all the way down so make sure your on um when they hit or you’ll be shit out of luck catching um. fulton street bridge has been taking a few fish as well as bridge street. I would say from today we have about 3 weeks of fishing left for steelies in the river. We are still getting allot of tight hens. And the males arent all beat up yet. So the spawn is still going strong. Dont be afraid to mover away from the dam either. there is some nice gravel down stream. Fish it, and you will be yelling FISH ON!!!

If we don’t have so much ice coming down the river. We have high winds that make it hard to feel a bite But the guys that are catching the fish are doing a few different things to land the fish. Bottom bouncing spawn has been catching allot of fish this year.

using a float with spawn on jigs and waxy’s have been doing good as well. But whats nice about a float is you can control where you want your bait to be at. A few guys are even using hot-n-tots with floats and nailing a few fish that way. Wobble glows are hitting a few fish to. with the muddy water they feel that vibe coming from it and smack it. The water has been cold at the dam. 34.6 has been a average. But it will warm up soon.
